Heidi Vanderbusch Success Story
What made you decide you wanted/needed to start a program?
I decided that I wanted to start a program after realizing that I had become as out of shape as I had ever been before in my life. There were a lot of reasons for that, but part of it was stress related to my job and falling into a habit of unhealthy eating and not exercising. I didn’t feel good in any of the clothes in my closet, and realizing that buying a new (bigger) wardrobe was in my future was a big wake up call. I also wanted to get healthier and more active in order to do a better job as a tennis coach at the school where I teach. Seeing how much my sister was enjoying Wild convinced me to try out one of the Wild challenges.
What do you like best about our program/having a trainer?
I love that Wild is more like a community than just a gym. I love all of the events like the turkey trot, bring a friend week, bootcamp for boobies, etc. I like getting all of the encouraging emails and facebook posts that remind me to schedule my workouts and get back of track if I fall off the wagon for a few days. The trainers are awesome, and I really enjoy the bootcamp class/circuit style of working out (keeps it interesting)! The trainers do a great job at getting to know your abilities so that they can push you the right amount and help make you better.
What would you say to someone on the fence about joining our program?
To someone who is on the fence, I would suggest that they sign up for one of Wild’s challenges! When my sister took me to bring a friend class at Wild, I liked it, but I wasn’t fully convinced that I could handle joining the gym and making the full commitment. So, she convinced me to sign up for one of the 4-week challenges instead to see how I felt about it. After 4 weeks of the challenge, I knew I couldn’t go back to being without the bootcamp classes every week. I would also suggest that there is strength in numbers (having a friend to work out with is so important). Finally, it is important to stick with it! It took me almost an entire year to lose the weight that I did, but focusing on the non-scale victories really helped. It also helps that there is every single type of person at Wild. You see people of all different abilities starting where they are and trying their hardest to improve every class.
